Join Te Rau Ora, a national centre for Māori health and wellbeing in Aotearoa, working toward a future where whānau are thriving, self-determined and well.
Whare Tukutuku (National Māori Addiction Centre) elevates an alcohol and other drug (AOD) workforce that is whānau-centred and community-focused, supporting equity of care and strengthening connections across rohe.
This is a role for someone who loves being the calm, capable hub — keeping the office running smoothly, supporting kaupapa delivery, and making sure people feel welcomed and well looked after.
About the role
You’ll provide high-trust administration and coordination for the Whare Tukutuku team — supporting hui/wānanga logistics, travel, events, registrations, and day-to-day office operations.
You’ll also support strong relationships with stakeholders and help ensure health and safety practices are embedded in the office.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will:
Coordinate meetings (agendas, minutes, follow-ups) and manage correspondence and document filing.
Be the welcoming face of the tari — manaaki and greet people who come in.
Provide event support: manage registrations, respond to queries, coordinate bookings, catering, travel and accommodation, and support facilitators.
Support administration of invoicing / payments, tracking budget codes, and liaising with accounts.
Maintain office systems and supplies, support research/record management, and help keep information organised and accessible.
Contribute to updating the Whare Tukutuku website and supporting event promotion where needed.
Help maintain a safe workplace and support staff awareness of relevant health and safety practices.
Who we’re looking for
You’ll likely thrive in this role if you are:
Organised, calm under pressure, and can juggle priorities while keeping details tight.
A proactive problem-solver who shows initiative and sound judgement.
Friendly, approachable, and comfortable building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Confident using Microsoft Office and everyday digital systems (email, documents, basic admin tools).
Able to work in a kaupapa Māori environment with cultural awareness, and supportive of tikanga-driven ways of working (including alignment with Te Tiriti o Waitangi).
Discreet and diplomatic when dealing with confidential matters.
Other requirements: current driver’s licence and willingness to travel if required.
Why join us
You’ll be part of a small, committed team delivering mahi that contributes to whānau-centred outcomes and workforce uplift.
